TIER 11
Many mythologies hold traces of the Death Knight's relevance and presence. All throughout history, these ominous figures have been known by many names: Dark Riders, Wraith Raiders, Death Knights, and their roles, depending on their Master's wishes, have been just as varied. The one thing these Death Knights have in common however, is that they were actual knights in life, and were cursed to continue on with their legacy even in death.
Spirits with lingering emotions during death prove to be powerful fiends, and these knights died with a vengeance. Raised from beyond the grave to pick up their swords once again, these lost souls are typically bound by dark magic that compel them to wreck havoc upon the living. Death Knights also usually choose steeds that once served them in life to be their faithful comrades in death. Fast and tireless, these mounts work in perfect unison with their riders.
In life, the Death Knights wielded swords that were forged by the hands of mortals. But the spells of darkness and the curses of undeath can taint their blades, turning them into wicked instruments that can cut through anything with unnatural ease. They are also imbued with unholy forces that sap the willpower and strength of one's soul, often leaving the victim weakened and cursed.
Over time, however, the dark spells cast to manipulate these Death Knights may weaken. They gradually begin to regain a hold over their minds and are no longer inclined to do their Master's bidding. These Death Knights then defect to the Element of Dark for refuge, hoping to retain their sanity. In return for their allegiance to the Element of Dark, these shadowy warriors are allowed to retain their battle prowess and spell-enchanted blades, making them the second strongest unit under the banner of Dark.
One question remains...who is their former Master?
