Hellhounds are mysterious, even for creatures of darkness. They appear in every Necropolis but they are rarely seen. These creatures are as intangible as shadows themselves, even though they are also as tangible as an undead creature can be.

 

A Hellhound is both alive and dead. One half of it retains its "while alive" nature - that of a black coated hound. The other half, however, is its undead counterpart - that of a skeletal structure. With its rotting appearance, patches of fur and flesh missing, it is easy to mistaken a Hellhound to be weak. It is not.

 

A Hellhound is a master of shadows. Other than the Necromancers, a Hellhound is the only creature who travels in the shadows, a skill called shadow stepping. This is why Hellhounds cannot be seen easily as they are often shrouded in shadows, so that they can move whenever they want to, fast.

 

In the darknest of nights, whenever you hear a deep, chilling howl and think that wolves are about...think again. If the shadows are amassing, it is definitely a sign that Hellhounds are around...
