RA Light of the Ancient Sun (Egyptian)
To ancient civilizations, the Sun represented light, warmth, growth and ultimately, life. As Ra is the ancient Sun God, this view made him a very important Patron of the Light. Ra is also one of the few Gods who actively seeks out Balance amongst the various Elements.
Every night, Ra sets out into the Duat, the Egyptian equivalent of the Underworld, on a boat. This is of great importance to ancient civilizations, for Ra's travels signifies the rising of the sun, bringing about the morning from the darkest of night. What most did not see, however, is the real significance of such an arduous journey. Ra travels through the Duat to combat with one of Order's greatest enemies - Apophis. Every night, Ra combats Apophis to keep Chaos' might in check, for it is when there is little to no light will Chaos become stronger. In such combats, Ra fights ferociously. His armor burns with the intensity of the Sun, and his battle form, that of a muscular man with a falcon head, strikes terror into the minions of Apophis. His weapon, the Sun Disk, burns brightly and sends enemies scurrying back into the dark where they belong.
His scepter, a powerful weapon similar to a wizard's staff, focuses the power of his Sun Disk, firing light energy at every enemy he encounters. This scepter come into being with the merger of two important ancient Egyptian relics - the crook and flail of the Pharoahs. His scepter also carries his symbol, an eye, that looks into the hearts of every being. Any found unworthy or evil will be scourged by his light.
As Ra emerges from the Duat, he reverts back to his normal form, that of a frail, aged man, holding the crook and flail. His power is diminished, given to the Sun as well as the Element of Light, to offer light, warmth, and protection to all those who believe in the Light.
The God is known as wise and loving even to those who do not follow the teachings of Ra. Ra blesses his followers with clarity so that they will never come under doubt even in places without light as they carry the light within. Ra gifts them with infinite wisdom, to do what is right and to always seek the path of the Light. Last but not least, Ra grants them the use of a fraction of his powers - the might of the Sun to burn and destroy the enemies of the Light with Ra's fury. Only enemies of the Light need fear this important and powerful God.
