POSEIDON Lord of the Seas (Greek / Roman)
Granted powers not only over water but the land, Poseidon is also often known as the Earthshaker. Despite this, Poseidon chose to reside deep in the ocean, granting his sister, Demeter, absolute reign over the land. Thus, many see Poseidon as a gracious and forgiving Patron, but his own followers know better - Poseidon can be equally unforgiving and treacherous if he chooses to.
In his better mood, Poseidon wills the seas to be calm. Waves roll about gently and a soft breeze blows, while sea creatures frolick happily in the surf. It is often mistaken that his powers are limited only to seawater, but even residents of springs, lakes and rivers pay homage to this powerful Patron of the Element of Water. Anything dipped into the waters blessed by Poseidon will be revitalized, and it is said that these sacred waters can close up and heal fatal wounds. At his worst, the seas churn and rage, a swirling tempest ready to devour all that dare set sail. The force of these waves are so strong, that upon impact with the land, will cause the earth to shake and tremble, thus earning him the title of Earthshaker.
His weapon, a Trident forged by the Cyclopes and empowered by the Telchines, makes him even more powerful. The weapon can be hurled at any target no matter how far away it is, and its aim will always be true no matter what lay in its path. It will then magically reappear in Poseidon's hand once the deed is done. Poseidon can also use it to create powerful shockwaves in the water, resulting in a powerful force that will stun his enemies when it strikes, and in some cases, killing them instantly.
Unlike his brothers, Poseidon has no wing. Instead, his legs can meld together to form a huge tail. That tail allows him to travel through the waters quickly and effortlessly. Wearing little but strong armour, Poseidon stands fearlessly in his castle, commanding his troops as they wage war against their enemies.
To safeguard his realm, Poseidon rarely leaves the ocean. Instead, his followers and the Guardian of the Element of Water, represent him and Poseidon grants them mastery over Water. Poseidon gives them the right to command and speak to horses, his sacred animals. His followers spread out all over the world, protecting every water source, purifying them if they are tainted. His followers travel freely and like the ocean, do not like to be restrained; when threatened, they will not hesitate to raise the might of a stormy sea...
